The 2 Division Nigerian Army has effectively conducted end of the year route march in Ibadan in the early hours of Friday 28th of December 2018.
According to a statement by Deputy Director , Army Public Relations, 2 Division Nigerian Army, Colonel Hassan Ifijeh Mohammed, the exercise which started at about 0600 hours and ended by 0840 hours, took off from the Division sports complex at the Adekunle Fajuyi cantonment, Ojoo, Ibadan through the University of Ibadan, Bodija market and back to the cantonment.
The Nigerian Army (NA) routine monthly route march is an exercise that was introduced by the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai which the major objective of the exercise is to ensure that Nigerian Army personnel keep fit and are physically and mentally sound to enable them squarely face the contemporary and emerging security challenges facing the nation.
The statement said “As at today, the route march has been fully institutionalized and is now a scheduled NA physical training exercise that all formations and units are expected to conduct at the end of every month.”
The General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Major General OF Azinta personally led the exercise. In his address to the troops after the route march, the GOC emphasized on the necessity for all officers and soldiers of the Division to always keep fit which is the desire and emphatic directive of the COAS.
He commended both the officers and soldiers for performing well thereafter wished them a prosperous new year in advance.
