In its bid to complement the Ekiti government in the area of transport management, Mikano International Limited has donated 23 traffic booths to the state.
Gov. Kayode Fayemi, in his remarks at the presentation of the boots at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti, praised the firm for extending its hands of support and partnership to his administration.
Fayemi, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Biodun Omoleye, said the facilities would in no small measure complement the government’s urban renewal plan geared at improving the people’s quality of life.
He assured the donor that the booths would be evenly distributed to serve the purpose they were specifically designed for.
According to him, the facilities will greatly support the conveniences and safety of traffic officers by serving as a shelter for them in the course of discharging their responsibilities.
Fayemi reiterated the administration’s commitment toward continually equipping the roads with modern facilities that would ease both human and traffic movement and as well guarantee the security of all road users and their property.
“This is actually coming at a time the state is desirous of this kind partnership which in fact is complementary to our current urban renewal initiatives.
“I assure you that the state government would continue to partner with your company for the betterment of Ekiti people and the country at large.
“Our urban initiative is so encompassing that is designed to make life easy for commuters in the state. We have been constructing and maintaining our roads.
“We have programmes to sufficiently equip all our roads with modern facilities, part of which include modern bus-stops, good and motorable roads and of course walkways for the physically challenged.
Earlier, Mr Yemi Salako, a representative of the company while handing over the booths said the gesture was part of the company’s social responsibility efforts to support government at improving the people’s lives.
He said the donation was also a demonstration of the readiness of the firm to work hand-in-hand with the government in order to move the state forward, especially in those areas that affected the lives of the people.(NAN)
