The death has occurred of Chief Sab Okwara Okoye (Ozuo – Omee 1 of Ihioma). The late Chief has been described as a legend by those close to him.
“Aged 85, he died in Jos, Plateau State on 4th February 2018. He was a renowned community leader, consummate politician, outstanding Councillor, peace – builder, businessman, philanthropist, Grade 1 Football Referee and strict disciplinarian,” Festus Okoye, one the late chief’s many renowned children said Monday in a statement.
While confirming his father’s death in a statement on behalf of the family, Festus Okoye Esq., barrister, solicitor and notary public said: “It is with heavy hearts but total submission to the will of the Almighty God that we announce the passing on to greater glory of our dear Brother, Father, Grandfather and Mentor, the Patriarch of the Okoye Clan, Chief Sab Okwara Okoye (Ozuo – Omee 1 of Ihioma).
The famous lawyer, activist added: “He is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Regina Okwuike and Mrs. Beatrice Duru, his children, Festus Okoye Esq, Mrs. Nnenna Mba, Mr. Fabian Okoye, Miss Ngozi Okoye, Mr. Kelechi Okoye, Pharm. Onyewuchi Okoye, and grandchildren, Chioma Okoye, Akachukwu Mba, Chidiebube Okoye, Obinna Okoye, Ifeanyi Okoye, and Olachi Okoye.”
According to the statement, Chief Okoye will be buried in his residence in Umudim, Ihioma, Orlu Local Government of Imo State at a date to be announced by the family.
