An electrician, David Ezekiel on Friday appeared in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The police charged Ezekiel, who resides in Barnawa Kaduna, with theft, criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The Prosecutor, Chidi Leo, told the court that the complainant, Daniel Nelson reported the matter at Gabasawa Police Station on Jan. 6.

Leo alleged that the defendant dishonestly collected N50, 000 from the complainant for a second hand Plasma TV and N6, 000 for repair of air conditioner.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant collected the money and did not give the complainant the Plasma TV or execute the job.

The offence he said contravened the provisions of Sections 217, 322 and 320 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The defence counsel, Stephen Cole, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms, citing Section 162 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA).

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one reasonable surety in like sum.

Emmanuel ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

He also ordered that the surety must present means of identification and adjourned the case until Feb. 4, for hearing. (NAN)
