The High Court in Ibadan presided over by Justice M. L. Owolabi on November 26, sentenced one Oladipo Olutope to 24 years imprisonment as well as restitute N10,450, 000 to the victim.
A statement by the acting Head, Media and Publicity of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Tony Orilade said the convict, who bagged six years jail term on each count was arraigned on the 22nd January, 2018 by the Ibadan office of the Commission on a 4-count charge bordering on stealing by conversion.
“He was found guilty on all four – count amended by the court and convicted in accordance with the relevant law.
One of the amended charge that earn the convict the jail term reads “that you, Oladipo Festus Olutope between 26th January and 19th Dec. 2016 at Ibadan within the Ibadan Judicial Division of this honourable court, did commit an illegal act, to wit, Stealing of ₦7, 015, 600 (Seven Million Fifteen Thousand Six Hundred Naira) property of One Yusuf Gbejami Lawal given to you to invest on his behalf and which you converted to your own personal use”.
The sentences are to run concurrently.
