The Nigeria Customs Service,  Zone B, Tuesday decorated 1977 newly promoted senior officers across the zone.
While decorating the officers,  the Zonal Coordinator, Mr Udo-Aka Emmanuel said the significance of the day’s celebrations was to give the officers impetus to work harder.
Emmanuel, an Assistant Controller General, further explained that the gesture was an incentive to motivate the personnel to be more productive and efficient.
According to the ACG, “the officers are expected to put in their best into the system by generating more revenue.
Last year we made N1 trilliin and we are expecting you to do more”.
“On behalf of the Controller General, Nigeria Customs Service, I was asked to decorate the officers and commend the officers for the tremendous job to have warranted them the promotion.
“I celebrate you today for that doggedness and I congratulate you for the elevation”, Emmanuel said.
He however reminded them that the elevation comes with increased responsibility, saying, management expects them to bring to bear their various experiences to the service.
Emmanuel warned the officers to avoid lobbying for special posting, adding that, civil service warrants posting of officers as at when due.
”The CGC does not give room for lobbying of posting and the NCS has no room for redundancy in the service”, he stressed.
He further called on the officers to stand their grounds to suppress smuggling and not to disappoint themselves and the customs service management.(NAN)
