Bauchi State Government on Thursday said that it would continue to support the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), to enable it to discharge its activities effectively in the state.
Gov. Bala Mohammed stated this in Bauchi at the Passing out Parade of the 2021 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 corps members.
The governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Aminu Gamawa, lauded the scheme’s rural medical outreach intervention in the state.
He said that the programme had positively impacted on the lives of rural dwellers, adding that, “the entire citizens of Bauchi State whom you have been serving in the last one year appreciate and applaud your laudable contributions.
“I urge the managers of the scheme to sustain the programme while assuring you of our total support,” he said.
Mohammed said the service year had prepared the corps members for the challenges associated with employment in the country.
He said that they were expected to set up small businesses in line with the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training acquired during the service year.
“It is also expected that you will take advantage of government empowerment programmes by assessing loans from the appropriate agencies to set up your businesses,” he said.
Earlier, the Director-General of NYSC, Maj.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, said that corps members aside their primary assignment, also embarked on Community Development Programmes.
Ibrahim was represented by the NYSC Coordinator in Adamawa, Alhaji Namadi Abubakar.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 460 corps members successfully completed their one year national service in the state. (NAN)
