An All Progressives Congress, APC lawmaker ,Mr Sanni Zoro has assured that his party will bounce back and Ekweremadu may likely cross to APC to keep his position. He Spoke at the APC national secretariat on Thursday after a closed door meeting with the party leadership.
Zoro analyzed in details thus ” first of all I want to say that the 21st century has opened up with drama and a lot of surprises in many lands like in United Kingdom for instance we saw this many years ag;o an unholy marriage between Labour and Social Democrats. We never expected it , so it appears that the entire political terrain is undergoing a political shock wave and troubles and am not particularly surprised that a drama of this nature has happened, although it has taken a lot of Nigerians by surprise. As far as the member of the APC and its political leadership of APC are concerned, this is not beyond management” he argued.
” Measures have been agreed upon, that is, first of all cleaning up the mess, manage the situation to de- escalate the crisis .This is the first thing we will do . I assured you that those who master minded the crisis who thought that they are going to benefit politically from it they will be surprised. APC will bounce back for so many reasons .First, if all apart from the fact that APC has a key majority in both National Assembly and so in government in full control of the executive arms of government, then when you go to the states like Kano for instance the entire mass of the party are followership of APC” he boasted.
” So in the same case all the states of the federation. So the followership and the leadership are fully behind APC ” he said .
Zorro warned ” and as for those who went for an unholy marriage with another rival of the APC, apparently they have done it out of desperation and it is also clear that many if them (looked at) their self interest first before that of the party . We have decided to remain loyal to the party because we have seen this kind of situation before.
“Some of us for instance participated in the people Redemption Party which had similar crises in the states it controls. Kano and Kaduna between 1979 and 1983. I am sure some of you who covered the places can attest to this fact. Those who remained in the party triumphed. Those who thought because they are in government and because they are in control of the resources they can actually sabotage the party they were proved wrong” he said .
” We are the level of the National Assembly both chambers, we have the mechanism that will reconcile all differences in no time.
” What happened in so many instances you will agree with me that this is even tasking . We have met with the leadership of the party and we are fully satisfied with the explanation that the party has given to us…. Lai Mohammed is the best position to share the measures the party is going to take because he is the spokesman of the party,but am telling you as a link as a member of the house if representatives that we are fully satisfied with the measures itemized by the chairman of the party” he added.
” What the party says is that it has made it clear that the process that thrilled up these people who are not members of the APC is hurtful. The party did not like it and it has made it absolutely clear .Apparently senator Ekweremadu is not a member of the APC but am not sure of what would happen tomorrow because Ekweremadu himself when he sees fire may be instead of losing that seat, he would cross over to APC ,who knows? So many Nigerians have done that, don’t rule out anything. These desperate PDP people who want to be in government perpetually .There is likely to be a cross over to APC to avoid sanction, that is the possibility. But what we are saying is that let us wait for the next few days we would roll out a the peace template and it will involve the press as the institutional partners as usual you will know everything because the party believes in transparency and accountability” Zoro added.
