The Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro. Felix Obuah has called on those still left in the fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State to leave the party and join Governor Nyesom Wike who is working hard to clean up the state.He said the APC was dead about to be buried.
Bro. Obuah, made the call while receiving over 200 decampees from the APC in Ndoni, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area Wednesday.
Bro. Obuah hailed the decampees for leaving the APC which he described as ‘dead and about to be buried’.
He thanked them for doing what was needful, stating that the decampees are ‘repentant returnees’, who “sojourned to the APC against advice but have now retraced their steps back to the PDP, their original home”.
“I must say that your departure to the APC at the time did not go down well with us, but having retraced your steps back to party of your origin, we joyfully welcome you back”, he said, giving assurance that the PDP umbrella was large enough to accommodate all of its members.
Bro. Obuah called on the decampees to support the party as well as Governor Nyesom Wike who has turned the State around through well-articulated, people-oriented projects.
The PDP Chairman said kudos must also go to former Governor Peter Odili who turned around Ndoni Community to a well-developed place, recalling that before Dr. Peter Odili became Governor, it took three to four hours to travel from Omoku to Ndoni.
“Honour must be given to whom honour is due. Dr. Peter Odili’s legacies in Ndoni as well as Rivers State can never be forgotten in a hurry, and one of those milestones was giving Ndoni people access road and sand filling the Community to the admiration of all”, Bro. Obuah enthused.
Earlier in his speech to the State PDP Chairman, the leader of the decampees, Mr. Amifor Frank Osanebi said the event would remain memorable in their hearts, having as he said, translated from the APC which he said was truly an ‘Association of Past Criminals’ into the PDP which he say, ‘People are Developing People’.
“Our journey to the APC was nothing but a voyage of discovery. It was an illusion but we thank God who allowed us to go there in the first place so we can see the difference between APC and PDP. And the difference is like comparing darkness and light.
“APC represents darkness while PDP undoubtedly represents light and we have decided to follow the light and not darkness”, the leader of the APC decampees said.
