In response to the contemporary challenges facing the Nigeria, the Universal Peace Federation in Nigeria in partnership with the UPF Ghana are delighted too announce the convening of the International Conference of Nigerians in West Africa on “Peace, Security and Human Development in Nigeria” to hold on July 23 – 26, 2014 at Sunlodge Hotel in Accra, Ghana. The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) is an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
A highly selective group of Nigerians and other special delegates from around West Africa will be in attendance, including governmental and non-governmental Ambassadors, government officials and heads of key institutions, women and youth leaders, representative from governmental and intergovernmental agencies and parliamentarians.
There is a growing awareness among people throughout the world of the urgent need for innovative vision and bold leadership if we are to resolve the critical issues of our time. With this in mind, the international conference will bring together committed Nigerians and institutions from across West Africa to discuss during the following high level sessions:
– Peace Building in Nigeria and West Africa
– Insecurity in Nigeria and West Africa
– Human Development in Nigeria and West Africa
– Interreligious Harmony and Intercultural Dialogue in Nigeria and West Africa
– Strengthening ECOWAS through Unity of Nigeria and Integration of West Africa
In addition to the high-level sessions of the international conference of Nigerians in West Africa, delegates will be offered a wider range of opportunities to meet with high-level officials representing the government, academia, the private sector and the media.
The conference shall also be used to launch the Nigerian Ambassadors for Peace in Diaspora (West Africa Chapter), committing Nigerians outside Nigeria to create a positive image for the nation and support peace building initiatives in their communities.
As an open international conference, we welcome interested participants from Nigeria and around the world as well as strategic institutions who have innovative ideas to contribute to solving the problems of violence, insecurity, underdevelopment among others facing Nigeria.
