The Anang tribe of Akwa Ibom state has advised President Goodluck to dissociate himself from their Governor Godswill Akpabio whom they said is not helping the President’s cause.
Making the accusation at a press conference in Abuja, Mr Idahosa Edet Ekanhem, leader of the Anang Reclamation Movement, said the entire tribe is unhappy with the way the Governor goes about tarnishing the image of the Ibibio, a major stakeholder in Akwa Ibom as such the President risks losing their support if he continues relating to Mr Akpabio..
“We are indeed very much disappointed in our son’s approach to issues which smacks of political intolerance that has stripped him of our confidence. We therefore call on Mr President to distance
himself from Mr Akpabio otherwise he too stands to lose our support” Ekanhem said. The group on that condition, pledged an unwavering support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration and his transformation agenda.
They urged the President to regard the entire tribes in Akwa Ibom as one indivisible family that is at present solidly behind him but could change so suddenly if given the chance.
“Mr President should be assured that all the tribes in Akwa Ibom speak with one voice and are solidly behind him contrary to the dark picture painted by the Governor and his men. He should however know that we can also shift that support, “said Ekanhem.
