The Anambra State Police Command on Thursday raided a printing press in Onitsha and recovered thousands of pamphlets printed by the outlawed indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB Members) who were planning to distribute same to the public.
Commissioner of Police CP Garba Baba Umar said in a statement the IPOB members intended to cause apprehension and prevent people from exercising their franchise during the Anambra State Governorship election slated for 18 November 2017.
According to the statement, the suspects arrested are Udeagha Ebube Chukwu male aged 27 years of Oba in Idemili South LGA and Elochukwu Okoloji male of aged 37 years of Alor Town also in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State.
The Command urged members of the Public to ignore any form of propaganda and false alarm by misguided elements in order cause fear and breach of public peace in the State.
Also, the Commissioner of Police further assured law abiding citizens in the State that the Command will not relent in its efforts towards ensuring safe and secured environment before, during and after the election.
