Sokoto state Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal has said that he could beat President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 general elections if he is fielded as the candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking while addressing party delegates at the party’s secretariat in Minna, the Governor who is one of the party’s presidential aspirants said, “When you are going into a battle you must present your best arsenals to defeat your opponent if not, you will be overwhelmed.”
According to him, he has more advantage of defeating Buhari adding that he is the best arsenal the PDP could present in the 2019 polls.
Tambuwal explained that the reason he returned to the PDP was because he discovered that the party was now on the right track while APC is being affected with the misfortunes of a bad leadership.
“We left PDP to form APC in the cause of time, we began to see signs clearly that APC itself was affected by some of those misfortunes of bad leadership. And so, we had to leave. That made us to start coming back to PDP as a better alternative. At that stage we realise that PDP is the best option to move the country forward,” he said.
He further said that Nigeria is currently in chaos and required the collective responsibility of all leaders to come together in order to salvage the country from crashing.
“It is our collective responsibility as leaders to come together to rescue our Nation from disintegration,” the governor said.
He said he decided to throw his hat into the ring because he knows he has what it takes to make a difference, if not he would not have sacrificed his sealed deal of continuing as Governor of Sokoto state.
“What I am doing is not personal or about myself but, a sacrifice for my country otherwise I can’t leave the comfort of continuing as Governor for what I am embarking upon,” Tambuwal said.
