The FCT Administration has expressed its commitment to continue to transform the Federal Capital Territory by way of providing qualitative infrastructure and services to its entire 8,000 square kilometer.
FCT Minister, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed gave this assurance on Thursday, while receiving the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku who paid him a courtesy call in his office, prelude to the flagging-off of the FCT National Good Governance Tour scheduled to last four days.
The Minister lamented that the three days earmarked for FCTA projects’ inspection to showcase its work is inadequate considering the number of projects currently being undertaken by his administration.
He revealed that owing to the shortness of time, the team will be taken to 24 peoples-oriented projects 14 being executed by the FCT Administration, while the remaining are by other MDAs including Ministries of Interior, Women Affairs, Land, Housing & Urban Development; Aviation as well as Information.
Senator Mohammed reiterated that the objective of the tour by the government is to entrench the principles of accountability and good governance and to show people the practical efforts being made to better the life for Nigerians.
According to the Minister, the tour will be a clear testimony of ensuring promises made to the people are fulfilled in tandem with the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the Vision 20-20-20.
He added that it is also aimed at publicizing government projects, policies and programmes as well as providing opportunity to showcase investment opportunities that exist.
The Minister emphasized that this chance will afford representatives of both national and international media organizations to see on behalf of Nigerians – wherever they may be – that the current administration means business!
Senator Mohammed therefore called on Nigerians to be ready for self transformation in order to move the country to the next level.
The Minister who recalled his memorable sojourn in journalism assured that the value of journalism profession will continue to guide him in serving the people of Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku lauded the uncommon strides of the FCT Administration under Senator Bala Mohammed where achievements can be visually seen and felt.
He restated that all these projects lined up for tour signify that the Transformation Agenda is really working in the Federal Capital Territory.
Mr. Maku recalled that last year, President Goodluck Jonathan approved a platform for all the Ministers to speak to Nigerians on the progress being made which no doubt changed the perception of the people.
