A total of 1,956 eye patients from 10 local government areas of Sokoto State have benefited from Sen. Aliyu Wamakko’s free eye-care programme.
A statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Bashir Mani disclosed to newsmen in Sokoto on Sunday said that of the number, 1,594 patients benefitted from Wamakko’s Senatorial district, which is comprised of eight local government areas.
It added that while other patients were from Sabon Birni, Isa, Goronyo, Wurno, Rabah, Gada, Gwadabawa and Illela, the 362 were treated in Kebbe and Tambuwal Local Government Areas of the state.
The statement explained that the Senator initiated the programme to alleviate the sufferings of those citizens that could not afford medical treatment from eye ailments.
The programme targets 3,150 patients in 19 local government areas of the state.
