UPF Nigeria announces activities to commemorate 2018 World Interfaith Harmony Week

The Nigeria chapter of the Universal Peace Federation, an international NGO with special consultative status at the United Nations has released her planned program of activities to commemorate the 2018 UN World interfaith harmony week scheduled to hold February 1 – 7, 2018. The activities will begin on February 1 with a media conference and will end on February 7 with the Interfaith Harmony Week Celebration Banquet and launch of Religious Youth Service in Nigeria.
The release by Dr Raphael Ogar Oko, Secretary General of the UPF in Abuja  listed the following activities:

February 1, 2018: World Interfaith Harmony Week Media Conference at the Peace Embassy in Abuja by 12 noon will bring together faith based media practitioners including reporters, journalists, editors,
publishers and other media professionals to address the need for interfaith harmony and what media professionals can do to promote and strengthen interfaith harmony. The event will also involve
mobilization of parliamentarians to proclaim World Interfaith Harmony Week in Nigeria as an official interfaith observation week.

February 2, 2018: Interfaith Jummat Service at the National Mosque, Abuja through the support and endorsement of the Executive Secretary, National Mosque, Abuja and designation of selected Muslim leaders as Interfaith Ambassadors for Peace by 3pm.

February 3, 2018; Interfaith Harmony Leaders Conference/Religious Youth Assembly will bring together interfaith leaders as well as youth leaders to deliberate on the need for interfaith harmony and
strategies for sustainable interfaith relations for peace and development. The one day conference will be held at the National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja from 10am prompt.

February 4, 2018: Interfaith Christian Sunday Service at National Ecumenical Christian Center in collaboration with Christian Association of Nigeria and designation of selected Christian leaders
as interfaith Ambassadors for Peace. The “Interfaith Harmony Week Service’’ will bring together Christians from several denominations to begin weekly interdenominational service at the National Ecumenical Christian center in Abuja and will feature the 120 Mass choir performance celebrating the harmony of Christians in Nigeria

February 5, 2018: Interfaith Harmony Leaders and Youth Pilgrimage to other religious centers and groups will feature a day long interfaith pilgrimage to several religious centers and offering of
joint prayers and affirmation of need for interfaith harmony

February 7, 2018: Interfaith Harmony Week Celebration Banquet and launch of Religious Youth Service programs 2018 featuring harmony dinner (feed your neighbor), music and dance as well as reflections on the weeklong program Interested participants in any or some of the activities are requested
