AANI Condoles with Nigerian Army, Commends Appointment of Acting COAS

The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) has extended condolences to the Nigerian Army over the recent death of Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) has extended condolences to the Nigerian Army over the recent death of Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

Led by AANI President Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, a delegation of AANI’s National Executive Committee visited the Army Headquarters in Abuja on Friday to honor the late general’s legacy and express support for the Army.

During the visit, Ambassador Okafor conveyed AANI’s profound sympathy to the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, as well as to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the bereaved family of Lt. Gen. Lagbaja.

He praised the late general’s dedication, professionalism, and contributions to national security, and signed a condolence register in his memory.

In addition, AANI commended the appointment of Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as the Acting Chief of Army Staff. AANI’s President applauded President Tinubu’s choice, citing Lt. Gen. Oluyede’s courage, humility, and exemplary leadership.

Okafor, himself a member of AANI, pledged the association’s continued support to the Nigerian Army and other security forces in maintaining peace and stability in the country.

The Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Oluyede, expressed gratitude for AANI’s visit and sympathies. He acknowledged the late Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s legacy of professionalism and commitment, assuring AANI that the Army would uphold its constitutional duties and continue to build on the former chief’s achievements.

The visit reflects AANI’s enduring commitment to support Nigeria’s security institutions, with the delegation affirming their readiness to aid the Army in its mission to secure the nation.
