The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has warned the public against activities of some unscrupulous individuals using the name and office of the Commissioner for Insurance, Mr Olusegun Omosehin, to defraud individuals.
Mr Abba Inuwa, the Head, Corporate Affairs of NAICOM, gave the warning in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
Inuwa said that the individuals were defrauding people on guise of awarding contracts and other promises via various social media platforms.
He said that the commission or its management would not be responsible for any transaction(s) involving payment made by any company or individual via social media platforms without authentication.
‘According to him, neither the Office of the commissioner for insurance nor the person of Omosehin will for any reason, solicit or request any individual or group of individuals to pay money.
”Omosehin will never request any individual to pay money into any personal or company account for the purpose of awarding contracts.
”All transactions with NAICOM must be made through remita platform.
”We urge anybody contacted by these individuals to report to the relevant security agencies immediately, ” he said. (NAN)
