The first official statement after Thursday night’s bomb blast at Nyanya in Abuja said at least nine people were killed while eleven other victims remain unconscious.
A statement by Emmanuel Okeh,Head, Public Relations NSCDC and Manzo Ezekiel ,Press Officer NEMA said “While security agencies have cordoned the area of an explosion this evening in Nyanya Abuja, response agencies have moved injured victims to hospitals and at least Nine (9) lifeless bodies have been deposited in the mortuary while 11 unconscious victims are receiving medical attention in different hospitals in Abuja.”
The statement urged members of the public to “cooperate with security agencies and avoid rushing to the scene to guard against hampering the efforts of the various agencies working together to ensure public safety.
An unofficial report by Newsdiaryonline earlier said at least 10 victims rushed to Asokoro General Hospital were already dead before arriving there.Many more were injured.
