Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has expressed his administration is commitment to recalibrating government for effective and efficient service delivery.
The governor, who made this known in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Richard Olatunde, on Friday in Akure, said that his administration could not afford to continue to run government as before.
The statement quoted Akeredolu as stating this while delivering his keynote address at the ongoing three-day retreat for political office holders and accounting officers in the state.
The governor, who noted that the state civil service was too heavy, said that there must be a way by which those who had stayed too long in a position in the civil service would leave to allow the young ones to come in.
He said that the retreat was aimed at ensuring that everyone keyed into his administration’s agenda.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the retreat is: “One Administration: Improved Service Delivery leads to Improved Revenue Generation.
According to him, his administration has embarked on and delivered massive infrastructure in the state, adding that he is very proud of the work done so far.
“We are trying our best in developing schools, especially the massive reconstruction of public primary schools across the state.
“We inherited schools that were just created without any equipment. We have developed and equipped them. We have done massive infrastructure in the state and we are proud of our work.
“In University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), we facilitated Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to develop buildings. Also, our 250-bed facility is at an advanced stage of completion.
“We have better beds and other facilities in our hospitals now. I have been informed that a number of our facilities are under-utilised. We are proud to have facilitated laboratories in our hospitals in Owo, Akure and Ondo.
“Security is also crucial to us. That was why we were elected to protect lives and property of the citizens,” he said. (NAN)
