Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has advised beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programmes (SIP) to reciprocate the gesture by voting for President Muhammadu Buhari in February’s presidential election.
Akeredolu gave the advice in Akure during the flag-off of the door-to-door campaign by SIP beneficiaries in Ondo State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the SIP includes the Home Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFP), the N-Power job intervention scheme and the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP).
Akeredolu said the Buhari administration had empowered many beneficiaries to be entrepreneurs and employers under the various schemes.
“We cannot forget the arm that fed us. As you are, you are not being fed but taught to fish and you are doing it efficiently well. Let us not forget what Buhari has done.
“Very soon, it will be our turn to vote massively for the president. Look around you and tell one more person or give your testimony,” he said.
Earlier, Mrs Omolara Ayesan, the Coordinator of the school feeding programme in Okitipupa, said Buhari had helped restore life into many broken homes.
“Buhari has done well among the common people. People with children being fed daily under the HGSFP will vote for him,” she said.
Mr Moses Akinjide, an N-Power beneficiary, said the Federal Government had delivered on its promise to assist the ordinary people through various schemes.
“They promised and fulfilled. I couldn’t pay for my PhD at OAU, but I saved N651,000 from the scheme and paid.
“ I did not collect a dime from anyone, that is what they have done,” he said. (NAN)
