Nigeria’s president in the second republic, Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Shagari is dead.
Aged 93, late Shagari died Friday evening at the National Hospital, Abuja.
He was elected president in 1979 and reelected in 1983 after which current President Muhammadu Buhari, then a major general, overthrew him in a military coup.
