VP Sambo Commends Yakowa’s Strides As Kaduna Honours Indigenes

Vice president Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo has commended the Kaduna State Governor Patrick Yakowa for his commitment to transforming the state.The vice president made this remark today in Kaduna at a reception organized by the kaduna state government in honour of some prominent indigenes of the state that have excelled in their chosen endeavours.

Arc Sambo, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion, specially, praised Yakowa for the good work he was doing and his efforts in the areas of education, healthcare, transportation and the provision of adequate security in the state.

“I want to specially commend His Excellency Sir Patrick Ibrahin Yakowa for the good work he is doing and his efforts in the provision of education, healthcare, road, rail and vehicular transportation as well as adequate security in the state.” Said Arc Sambo.

The Vice president expressed his deep appreciation to the Kaduna State Government for organizing such a reception to honour accomplished citizens and called on them to live up to expectations. He urged them to keeping the flag flying so that the state will continue to be proud of them.

Arc Sambo used the occasion to intimate the gathering of the various inroads of the federal government in providing infrastructure to the critical sectors of the economy.

He  thereafter, called on the citizenry to consolidate on these gains by partnering government in its fight against all forms of crimes and criminality and to always live in peace.

Speaking earlier the chief host and Governor of Kaduna state Patrick Yakowa expressed his delight at the avalanche of appointments of the state indigenes to exalted positions by the federal government in a very short space of time and stated that Kaduna state had never had it so good.

The Kaduna State governor further stated that they were celebrating some of their sons and daughters occupying various federal positions and that the four honorees occupying such positions were eminently qualified and among the very best in the country and urged them to be worthy ambassadors of the state.

“Am privileged to say to this audience that I know the four persons being honoured today very well and can say without any fear of contradiction that they are well qualified for these appointments and are amongst the very best in our country. I have no doubt that they will be worthy ambassadors of Kaduna state in the positions that God has put them to serve our country at this very challenging time.” Said Yakowa.

While expressing his gratitude,  the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Andrew Yakubu articulated the strategic direction and aspiration of government in the oil and gas energy sector. He stated that the federal government aspired to grow its crude oil production to 4billion bpd by the year 2020 and that in line with the federal government’s aspiration to grow power supply to 40,000mw, which would be majorly supported by gas resources, NNPC has embarked on the development of  gas infrastructure across the entire country .

The NNPC GMD also described the Kaduna refinery as the best running refinery in the country with a current refining capacity of 4million litres per day. He stated that the NNPC has embarked on a Major Turnaround Maintenance of all refineries in the country to boost their production capacity.

Andrew Yakubu further stated that the NNPC group was a major industry supporting the economy with great socio-economic impact and that they were aggressively pursuing government’s aspiration in the gas sector which would support power and revive the moribund industries in the state. He prayed for continued peace in the state and thanked the  governor for doing so much to promote peace.

The four celebrants were Hajiya Hadiza Mailafiya the Minister of Environment,  Hon Justice Kumai Akaahs Justice of the Supreme Court, Alh Abubakar Mustapha National Organising Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, and Engr. Andrew Yakubu the Group Managing Director of NNPC.

The event attracted prominent sons and daughters as well as friends of the state.
