Tukur’s PDP Suspends inauguration of Finance Committee

The Bamanga Tukur -led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has suspended the attempt to inaugurate its National Finance Committee on Wednesday.

A communique issued at the end of the National Working Committee meeting of the PDP on Tuesday said “The National Working Committee (NWC), after its meeting on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 directed that the inauguration of the National Finance Committee of the PDP earlier scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2013 be put on hold. A new date will be announced for the inauguration.

The communiqué signed by Chief Olisa Metuh, the party’s spokesman said he NWC also invited all State and Zonal Youth and Women leaders for a seminar on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja at 12 noon prompt.

There were also unconfirmed unofficial reports earlier that the reconciliation meeting scheduled to hold in the Presidential Villa Tuesday may have been cancelled.President Jonathan had met on Sunday with about 16 PDP governors including some members of the breakaway faction now known as the new PDP.Chief Tony Anenih,chairman of the Board of Trustees had said the meeting would continue.

But the Kawu Baraje –led faction of PDP on Monday dragged Tukur and others to a Lagos Court seeking to restrain them from parading themselves as PDP exco members.

Even more, there were reports earlier today that at least 22 Senators may have also defected to the New PDP ,an indication that the reconciliation efforts in the party have hit the rocks.Or so it seems for now.
