Senate President David Mark  has finally  broken  his silence,  one week  after the defection of Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tambuwal to All Progressives  Congress (APC),.

Mark  said as chairman of the National Assembly   he “will do the needful to protect and defend the legislature at all cost”.

Mark  made this  remark  before   abruptly adjourning Senate  plenary till next Tuesday. The Senate president equally said he was aware of  the case  being before the courts .

His words: “We are not to interfere in the internal affairs of the other House. However, as chairman of the National Assembly, I can’t fold my hands or pretend that all is well with the current crisis. I am therefore going to do all I can to resolve the current impasse.

“Furthermore, the matter is already in the courts of law, we cannot therefore discuss it in the chambers. I want to assure all of you that I will do the needful to protect and defend the legislature at all cost,” Mark said.
