Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar has urged Nigerians gunning for offices in 2015 not to let politics cause divisions in the country. He made the call in his Sallah message to Muslims in Nigeria in Sokoto on Saturday.
“Nigerians are brothers and sisters and politics should not divide us to the level of causing breach of the peace. God gives and takes leadership. Sokoto has remained largely peaceful and united, as such other states should emulate it,” he stressed.
He reminded leaders that life was too transient. “We should be servants of the people and not the other way round. We also need honest and sincere advice as we are also fallible. We will continue to be fathers to all politicians and our doors will remain open to all,” he added.
Speaking on the 2015, the Sultan appealed to politicians seeking elective offices to conduct peaceful campaigns.
The Sultan also called on governments at all levels to take concrete measures of solving the endemic problem of youths unemployment.
According to Sultan Abubakar, “Unemployment is the genesis of most of the problems plaguing Nigeria currently. Although governments at all levels were doing their best in this direction, the problem is becoming more endemic now across the country.”
