The victims of fire outbreak at the Sokoto central market on Wednesday received the sum of N10 million from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa as donation.
Bafarawa who paid a visit to the victims of the inferno on Wednesday announced the donation explaining that the gesture was an absolute display of sympathy.
“I am not here to play politics but to show my sympathy to you. The donation is not in any way to compensate you but rather to give succour to your suffering,” he said.
He called on the victims to regard the incident as an act of God.
Alhaji Kabiru Dodo, who is the chairman of the area where the incident occurred commended Bafarawa for the gesture while pledging to distribute the money to all victims, judiciously.
It could be recalled that fire outbreak razed a section of the central market, destroying eleven shops, Tuesday night.
The incident recorded no death or casualty.
