Sambo Flags-Off PDP’s Campaign For Anambra Election

Namadi-Sambo- 600Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo on Saturday officially flagged-off the Anamabra State gubernatorial campaign for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer Tony Nwoye.

The vice president who was the chairman of the Gubernatorial Campaign Committee described the PDP candidate in the state as the leader of the youth, who undoubtedly, was ready to take over the governorship seat of Anamabra .

Sambo added that the People of Anambra state would be making a wise decision on the choice of the PDP gubernatorial candidate for he was youthfull, developmental, progressive, forward-ever and possesed the wisdom to lead the state on the path of development.

The Vice President promised the candidate overwhelming support and full cooperation of the PDP government led by President Goodluck Jonathan such that Anambra State would transform into the most industrialised state in the nation.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Party Bamanga Tukur stated that the by looking at the mammoth gathering at the arena that converged for the rally, the Anambra people had already spoken that Anambra was for PDP.
He described the Candidate as a young man who has served the party well as state chairman for his role in building and consolidating the party in the state.

Those present at the rally were all the members of the PDP National Working Committee, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe, Former Governor of Zamfara State Mahmud Shinkafi, former PDP National Chairmen Ahmadu Ali and Ezekwesili Nwodo and other party stalwarts

High point of the Event was the Official handing over of the PDP Gubernatorial Flag to the candidate Tony Nwoye by the National Chairman of the Party Bamanga Tukur.

The Anamabra State Gubernatorial election was scheduled to hold on Saturday 16th November 2013.

The Vice President was earlier at the palace of the Obi of Awka HRH Obi Gibson Nwosu where he paid him homage.

Arc Sambo stated that as was the tradition, the first place of call was the royal palace. He has therefore came to seek the blessings of the royal father.
The Vice president used the occasion to explain to the royal fathers of the various inroads the Jonathan administration has made in the transformation of the power sector, the railway and in the construction of road networks across the country. He informed the monarch of Federal Government re-award of the Awka Enugu Dualised road contract and that the contractor has already mobilised to site.

Arc Sambo also sought the Royal Father’s blessings for the PDP gubernatorial Candidate in Anamabra Tony Nwoye whom he said would “add value” to Mr President’s Transformation Agenda in the State. He expressed his appreciation of the monarch’s great love for peace and belief in the unity and indivisibility of Nigeria. He described the royal father as a “bridge builder” who was working assiduously to see to the peace and unity of the country.

On his part, HRH Gigson Nwosu thanked the delegation for the visit and gave his blessings to the candidate. He also described Namadi Sambo as the best vice president of Nigeria in the seventy six years of his life.

The Vice President was also at Dunukofia Palace in Ukpo where he paid homage to the Igwe HRH Eze Okafia IV.
