#TrackNigeria: The National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Uche Secondus has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that the rerun elections scheduled on Saturday were transparent.

Making the call after consultations with Sokoto state governor Aminu Tambuwal Tuesday, he further implored that the Federal government should not militarise the rerun like the previous elections.

Secondus said though the nationwide allegations had made Army officers to investigate its men over breaches, adding that election security should remain the sole responsibility of the Police.

According to him, “I appeal to security operatives and the electoral body to remain apolitical and respect their laws of engagement, as their neutrality will always accord them dignified respect.”

Expressing optimism that Tambuwal would win the election in Sokoto, Secondus urged all stakeholders to play by the rules of the game.

“PDP has confidence in Nigerian laws, and I have confidence Tambuwal, being in the lead, will be declared winner in the March 23 election,” he said.

On his part, Tambuwal commended Secondus for PDP’s performance in the elections and urged security agencies to ensure neutrality in the process.
