#TrackNigeria: Noble Youths Mass Support Association (NYMSA), an NGO, has expressed disappointment over the postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Hon. Godwin Onmonya, the national coordinator of the group expressed the disappointment in an interview with Newsmen in Gwagwalada on Sunday.

According to him, many Nigerians had already trooped out early hours of Saturday before the election postponement, adding that it was not in the interest of democracy.

“Many Nigerians traveled for the  purpose of voting leaders of their choice, only to be told that the elections have been postponed.

“The effects on businesses especially the daily early earners, International observers already in the country is not good for our democracy.

“Why must INEC wait this late to announce the postponement of the elections; It’s disheartening,” he said.

The coordinator added that the development was capable of changing the minds of people who truly wanted to vote.

However, he described the postponement as lack of capacity by INEC to conduct free, fair and credible elections in the country.

INEC postponed the Presidential and National Assembly elections to Feb. 23,while the governorship and state assembly elections were also shifted from March 2 to  March 9.
