The Benin Monarch, Omo ‘N’ Oba Erediauwa, the Oba of Benin says the re-election of Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole manifestation of his acceptability and an appreciation of his performance by the people of the state.
The Benin Monarch stated this today when he granted audience to the Governor who came to present his Certificate of Return to the Oba at the palace in Benin City.
Commending him for his performance, the Oba said “our ancestors have seen what you have done not only in Benin City but the entire Edo State. When you came the last time I prayed that you come back to complete what you have started. We are seeing in the media what you are doing”.
While praying that God gives the governor the wisdom to do more, the Oba said “thank you for the promises you have made. Seeing you go around inspecting projects and campaigning vigorously we thank God that you are still looking fit”.
Earlier, Governor Oshiomhole had told the Oba that he was at the palace to present his Certificate of Return to him.
According to the Governor “I am here to present to you my Certificate of Return as governor. I want to thank you for being a father to all of us in our time of need. Your majesty have demonstrated and re-affirmed by words and action that Edo is one and the same”.
The Governor declared “the great people of Benin have demonstrated an uncommon love for my person and administration”.
Oshiomhole enthused that “for the first time I won election in the 18 Local Government Areas. It has never happened before. By your action you have re-united the people of the state”.
Acknowledging the enormity of the challenges ahead, Oshiomhole said “I fully appreciate the challenge arising from my re-election. I have a duty to deliver across the eighteen local government areas”.
Assuring the Monarch that the learning curve is over, the governor said “after three and half years, we are clear what the challenges are and we are ready to apply ourselves to justify the confidence of the people”.
The Iyase of Benin, Chief Sam Igbe who said the prayer thanked God for what he has done to the Comrade Governor, praying that the next four years will be better.
……NCP Chairman, three opposing candidates felicitate with Oshiomhole
National Chairman, National Conscience Party, NCP, Dr. Yinusa Tanko and three governorship candidates in the July 14 governorship election in Edo State have congratulated Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on his re-election as governor.
The NCP National chairman who led the political opponents to Government House to felicitate with Comrade Oshiomhole shortly after receiving his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Benin City presented a congratulatory letter to the governor.
“We have come to join over 30 million Edo people to rejoice with you on your overwhelming victory at the polls,” he noted.
The governorship candidates of the NCP, Paul Orumwese, Congress for Progressive Change CPC, Roland Izevbuwa and Social Democratic Mega Party, SDMP, Frank Ukonga said that they have accepted the results of the election and called on the candidates of the other political parties to join hands with the re-elected governor to move Edo State forward.
“We accept the result of the poll and we are happy that the votes of Edo people counted in the election,” they added.
Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole congratulated the NCP National Chairman for his recent election and thanked the other governorship candidates in the July 14 gubernatorial election for the sportsmanship displayed during the electioneering campaigns.
“ I extend my hand of fellowship to you to take the state to the next level. We all have a dream for our state and today we have demonstrated that it is truly the heart beat of the nation . Edo has now emerged as the head of credible election,” he noted.
According to him, “Nigeria faces a challenge of national unity and if the country elevates merit, we will be on the way to having a great nation.”
While commending the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku-Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa for his fatherly role over all Edo people, the governor disclosed that having won in all the eighteen local government areas in the state, the challenge is to deliver the dividends of democracy across the 192 wards.
