NUPENG Threatens To Extend Strike Nationwide

Oil workers union NUPENG has threatened to commence  nationwide strike on Wednesday this week if the federal government fails to pay fuel subsidy to genuine oil marketers.This threat is certain to worsen the fuel scarcity which has virually paralysed vehicular movements  in Abuja where NUPENG has been on strike already.Transport fares have gone up in Abuja and its environs .

Meanwhile ,reports said  Peter Esele, National president of  TUC has dissociated his union from NUPENG’s strike.He  urged the federal government not to bow to blackmail by oil marketers.

Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala,Nigeria’s minister of finance and the coordinating minister in charge of the economy had several times insisted that genuine oil marketer were being paid.She insisted that the strike was an attempt by oil marketers who have not been cleared for payment to blackmail the regime .
