NIPR honours MAN president, others

The Group Executive Director,  Dangote Group, Engr. Mansur Ahmed has received an Award by the Nigerian Institute of Public  Relations, NIPR, Kaduna chapter for his contributions to Industrial Development in the Country, particularly northern Nigeria.

Having provided the enabling environment for industrial activities to thrive in the Country,  Mansur ensured the promotion of the Nation’s manufacturer’s collective interests for economic growth.

The NIPR, during the 2019 AGM/Public lecture/Award ceremony on Saturday in Kaduna said the Special Award to the GED, Dangote Group, as “Champion of Industrial Development” is for his contributions in this regard”. 

Mansur, a top official of Dangote Group, at the event urged Nigeria and Nigerians to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA.

He said with the effort being made by stakeholders to identify the risks and develop mitigation actions to protect the nation’s economy,  the Country stands to benefit greatly from AfCFTA and stressed the need for the NIPR, and others  to organise a full fledge conference on the matter for better understanding of the public.

It would be recalled that the Presidential Steering Committee on the AfCFTA Impact and Readiness Assessment Committee was inaugurated on October 22, 2018, with the mandate to assess the extent to which Nigeria was ready to join the agreement, and the impact of so doing.

The other Awardees are the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and the ministerial norminee, Engr. Suleiman Hussaini Adamu, all of whom have made immense contributions to their fatherland.

The plethora of challenges in the nation’s economy resulting from the collapse of industries particularly the Textile formed part of discussions by the Guest Speaker, and chairman Adhama Textiles & Garment Industries Ltd, Kano, Alhaji Saidu Dattijo Adhama.

The chairman NIPR, Kaduna chapter, Mr. Bashir Chedi said the appalling state of the nation’s industries in the region calls for immediate intervention by the federal government to revitalise the sector.

He said the role of NIPR includes conducting strategic environmental scanning with a view to identifying issues, analysing trends, predicting their consequences, counseling organisational leaders and implementing programmes of actions that serves the public interest.
