Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters,DHQ has confirmed the arrest of an aircraft at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport ,Kano in the early hours of Saturday.
A tweet on the Defence Headquarters handle also confirmed that the plane arrested is “An Antonov Cargo aircraft carrying some military hardware”
“An Antonov Cargo aircraft carrying some military hardware was arrested at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in the early hours of Saturday 6th Dec. 2014” the tweet said.
The twitter statement by the military further said “Investigation is ongoing to determine the content and origin of the aircraft”.
Also, perhaps conscious of the interest the story has so far elicited, the Defence Headquarters has said ,“Further details will be made as soon as the investigation is completed.”
