A Gombe based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Lawanti Community Foundation, says it plans to construct a block of three classrooms in Marori village in Akko Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Malam Idris Maigari, programme coordinator of the foundation, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Tuesday.
He said the project, which included provision of furniture in the classrooms, would gulp N5 million, for pupils who had been studying under trees.
He pointed out that it would be funded through a partnership between the foundation and the State Agency for Social Development.
Maigari said the community will supervise the project to ensure quality job, adding that one month duration was given to the contractor.
He said that the gesture was to provide learning atmosphere conducive for the pupils in the Marori primary school, who had been studying under trees.
“The primary school in Marori has been in existence for over 30 years but the pupils are still learning under tree because there are no structures on ground.
“Currently the school has over 60 pupils with only a teacher, who doubles as the head teacher,’’ Maigari said.(NAN)
