The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said though it strongly condemns what transpired at both chambers of the National Assembly (NASS) on Thursday, it stands on the list of principal officers already submitted to the leaders of NASS .
In a statement issued by its National Secretary, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, APC said it stands by the list it sent to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
APC national chairman had in a letter to Senate President Bukola Saraki announced its new wish list thus:Senator Lawan Ahmed ,majority leader;Prof Sola Adeyeye ,Chief whip,Senator George Akume,deputy majority leader and Senator Abu Ibrahim,deputy chief whip.
In a similar letter to Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house of representatives, the party listed its candidates thus:Femi Gbajabiamila,house leader,Alhassan Ado Doguwa,deputy house leader,MT Monguno,chief whip and Pally Iriase,deputy chief whip.
Saraki Defies APC
But contrary to the party’s wish list, Senate president Saraki on Wednesday announced Senator Ali Ndume as Senate Leader and Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah was named as the deputy senate leader.Saraki said though he had received a communication from the party, the senate regional caucus of those he mentioned had nominated them for the posts.
APC BOT,Caucus,NEC To Meet On NASS Crisis
The statement from APC secretariat Thursday said the National Caucus, BOT and NEC of the party will meet within the next few days to discuss the evolving developments in the National Assembly.
