#TrackNigeria: Catholic Bishop of Minna Diocese, Most Reverend Martin Uzuokwu, has urged security agencies, including the police, to extend and strengthen community policing to rural communities to confront kidnapping and armed banditry.
Uzuokwu made the call in an interview on Thursday in Minna.
He said that such move would enable security personnel to come forward with various forms of security strategies in tackling all security threats to lives and property.
He also called for the deployment of security personnel, with adequate facilities that would enable them to introduce more stringent measures in dealing with the present security challenges in the country.
Uzoukwu called on the public to develop the culture of reporting suspected miscreants in their midst to nearest security agents for thorough investigation.
He also advised Nigerians to be extremely vigilant at all times for build-up of security situation.
According to him, it is only by so doing that Nigerians will be able to go about their legitimate business without threats to lives and property.
The cleric also advised the public to observe strange happenings around them as part of measures needed to deal with unforeseen circumstances. (NAN)
