Kano state Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has expressed optimism that great reform will be witnessed in Kano with the appointment of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II as its new Emir if Kano in view of his vast western and Islamic education as well as his wealth of experience in the public and private sectors of the nation’s economy.
The governor made this known at the Government House, Kano while receiving the former Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Mustapha Haruna Rashid who visited the state to commiserate with the citizens over the demise of the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero and to congratulate the new Emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II.
“The appointment of Muhammadu Sanusi II would be a blessing to the people of the state looking at his rich credentials and exposure. I hope that people would cooperate with him to enable him serve them better” the governor said.
Gov. Kwankwaso further stated that the present administration is committed towards choosing the best for the people of the state in all areas of human endeavour, pointing out that this is what a leader is supposed to do for his people, as anything besides this would can be counter-productive to the society.
The governor thanked the Emir of Gwandu, for offering condolences to the people of Kano and for making encouraging observations in respect of the on-going physical transformation in the state.
Speaking earlier, Alhaji Mustafa Haruna Rashid said that the Late Emir Ado Bayero has done a lot for the progress of Islam not only in the state but in the nation at large, praying that Allah will grant him eternal rest.
He then praised Gov. Kwankwaso for choosing a credible successor to Alhaji Ado Bayero and for in managing the riot that erupted after a new monarch was named for Kano recalling that similar riots have taken longer periods in certain places. He said in 1915 it took 40 days of rioting when one of his great grandfathers was appointed Emir of Gwandu.
The Emir spoke elaborately about the on-going infrastructural revolution in the state, appealing to Nigerian governors to emulate Governor Kwankwaso’s vision so as to make the country great particularly in the area of education.
