President Goodluck Jonathan has written to congratulate one of Nigeria’s most successful and renowned businessmen, Otunba Michael Adenuga as he celebrates his 60th birthday, tomorrow, Monday, April 29, 2013.
Felicitating with him on the occasion, President Jonathan noted that Otunba Adenuga who was recently conferred with Nigeria’s second highest National Honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON will be celebrating 60 years of great achievements in business and philanthropy.
The President described Otunba Adenuga as an embodiment of the ideals of “diligence, commitment, unmediated patriotism and selfless service”.
“Come Monday, April 29, 2013, you shall be celebrating 60 years of a remarkable life filled with monumental achievements in high entrepreneurship, philanthropy and dedicated service to God and country.
“On behalf of the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I join your family, friends, protégés and well-wishers in thanking God for
your exemplary life. “It is my prayer that Almighty God continues to bless you with robust
health and enduring happiness,” President Jonathan wrote. He wished Otunba Adenuga very happy birthday celebrations.
Also,eminent businessman and former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has eulogized the Chairman of telecommunications giant, Otunba Mike Adenuga, as he turns 60 on Monday.
Kalu, in a statement by his Special Adviser, Oyekunle Oyewumi, described Adenuga as one of the few courageous Nigerians with resilient spirit despite the numerous odds facing businesses in Nigeria.
Oyekunle quoted Kalu as saying of Adenuga: “Our great Otunba has shown that with forthrightness and the never-die-Nigerian spirit, it is possible to achieve what many regard as the impossible.
“This, Otunba Adenuga, you have demonstrated with your many businesses but more so with Glo.
“When it appeared impossible that Nigerians could have cheaper GSM services, you came into the market and crashed the prices with various innovative offerings, especially the per second billing.”
Kalu said a businessman whose only focus is on the maximization of profit will never think like Adenuga, adding: “Your numerous philanthropic gestures stands you out as a distinguished Nigerian.
“As you turn 60, I have no doubt in my mind that you will celebrate many more years in good health as the prayers of Nigerians and many others all over the world, that you have touched in numerous ways, will continue to see you through in life.”
