Labaran-Maku 600Former Information Minister and governorship candidate of APGA in Nasarawa State Mr. Labaran Maku says he will not relent in the struggle for Nasarawa North to produce a governor for the first time in the history of the state in this year’s general elections.  He made the remarks in Nasarawa Eggon while addressing a mammoth crowd of youths under the umbrella of the Eggon Youth Movement, who thronged out to endorse him as their sole governorship candidate for Nasarawa State in this year’s election.

Mr. Maku remarked that Nasarawa South and West had the opportunity to govern the state and that it was now the turn Nasarawa North to produce a governor in the interest of equity and justice.

The former Minister said since the PDP ignored the quest for justice and power rotation and handed over its ticket to Nasarawa South, which governed the state for eight years, he had no option than to seek justice for the people of Nasarawa North in a different political party.

“Justice is the only ingredient that puts society together.  We cannot live in the same state and then you said some people do not belong. Wherever you have that, it’s going to cause confusion, grudges and under-development,” he stated.

Mr. Maku said his ambition to govern Nasarawa State was not personal but predicated on the need to promote unity and harmony against the politics of exclusion, which would breed discontent and disharmony.

“I am fighting for justice, equity, even development and unity of our state,” he insisted.

Mr. Maku equally took a swipe at the Al-Makura’s APC government, which he said had only succeeded in plunging Nasarawa State into violence, death and destruction.

“In the last four years, the only industry that has worked in Nasarawa State is violence, death and destruction.  We have a party in place called APC that believes in violence for political survival,” he stated.

He condemned the wave of violence that swept hundreds of towns and villages in the state and maintained that the destruction was being perpetrated by imported mercenaries who were out to destroy communities perceived to be opposed to the APC government.

The former Minister said he was offering himself as a change agent, who would rescue Nasarawa State from the brinks and return the state to the path of peace, unity and progress when elected governor.

Speaking earlier, the State Secretary of APGA, Emmanuel Yaro clarified that Mr. Maku’s name was submitted to INEC and published by the electoral body as the candidate of APGA in Nasarawa State.

He therefore urged the people of the state to disregard anyone parading himself as the governorship candidate of APGA in Nasarawa State.
