Gusau Embarks On Tour Of Military Services

Gusau.jpg 600The Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen Aliyu Mohammed Gusau has said that all challenges confronting the Armed Forces in the war against criminal groups would be compile and presented to Mr. President for possible solution.

Gusau said this when he paid a familiarisation tour to the Defence Headquarters.The Minister thanked the Armed Forces for their resilience to make the nation safe, adding that all allowances meant for the soldiers on special duties would be paid in full.

Reacting to a question, Gusau said that the country is surrounded by friendly neighbours and would collaborate with them to confront insecurity at our borders.

The Minister said that, far from speculations, the cost for prosecuting the fight against the Boko Haram insurgent is not prohibitive given the magnitude of the challenge.
In a suggestion as to whether the Minister will champion a strategy to tackle Boko Haram; the Minister said that the military authorities are doing very well adding that what is left, is for him, to give advice and direction.

Earlier the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Barde welcome the Minister and his entourage to the Defence Headquarters and said that the service chiefs and himself are
working as a family. “For all my service years, there has never been a time that all the service chiefs work in unison as is the case with this group of chiefs,” he confessed.

The Service Chiefs, heads of agencies took turns to brief the Minister. Lt. Gen. Gusau was accompanied by the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, the Permanent Secretary Mr. Aliyu Ismai’la and some directors of the ministry.
