Unknown gunmen Monday night killed the Manager of Ruma filling station at Ungwan Muazu area of Kaduna metropolis, after collecting cash and other valuables from him.The victim, Stephen Anebi, an Igala hailed from Kogi State and is survived by a wife and four children.
According to an eyewitness, Anebi was the only person that was killed by the gunmen among five other petrol attendants including the owner of the petrol station,Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar.
Explaining what he witnessed, Abubakar owner of Ruma filling station, said the gunmen suddenly came to the filling station at about 8pm, and ordered everybody in the station to lie down, facing the ground.
“As I heard the noise, I rushed down from the upstairs where my office is located within the filling station, and I was also ordered to lie down along my staffs that were already lying down.
“The gunmen were about five in number, they collected all our handsets and sales money we made that day. But unfortunately it was only my Manager, Stephen Anebi that they killed, and zoomed off.
“Stephen was a good man; he was gentle, trustworthy and hard working. I just promoted him to the position of Manager some few weeks ago; he was the assistant manager before his promotion.
“I immediately reported the incident to the police, and the police took my statement at Ungwan Muazu police station, and I believe the police will get to the root of this sad killing of my manager”.
When our correspondent visited the deceased’s family house in Kakuri area of the city, there was a huge crowd of sympathizers who thronged in to console his wife and other members of the family.
