#TrackNigeria – The Accountant – General of the Gambian Republic, Momodou Lamin Bah has commended Nigeria’s Treasury Single Account system, saying it is a successful initiative.
This commendation was made during an official visit on Monday in Abuja by delegates from Gambian to Nigerian Minister of Finance to understudy the TSA.
According to the Gambian accountant general, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) referenced Nigeria as a tremendous success in implementing the TSA in the globe.
He added that the push for the Gambian delegates to visit Nigeria becAme mandatory as it is globally showcased in terms of implementation of the Treasury Single Accounts.
“I was looking at the Treasury Single Accounts online training courses and Nigeria was showcased and as such we had no other choice than to visit Nigeria and learn from them”, he said.
Lamin said the TSA implementation process in Gambia is ongoing but there is need to have quality assurance if right things are being done.
He also noted that the delegates would want to benchmark how Nigerians is leveraging on technology for the TSA reform as the country is looking forward to walking away from cheques and manual payment.
While welcoming the delegates, the Minister of Finance, Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed described the visit as a reaffirmation that what the Federal Government of Nigeria has done in implementing the Treasury Single Accounts is recommendable.
She added that despite the advantages of the TSA reform in the country, there is a challenge still to be addressed; that is the inability of the reform to bring foreign operators into the TSA.
Earlier in his remarks while unveiling the purpose of the visit to the Minister of Finance, the Accountant – General of the Federation, Alhaji Ahmed Idris assured the delegates from Gambia of his continuous partnership and exchange of ideas especially in the areas of finance.
