The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation has dismissed as mischievous and unfounded the allegation by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the Department of State Services (DSS) is in cahoots with the PDP and planning to postpone the February 14, 2015 Presidential Election.

Director of Media and Publicity of the Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, said that the election would hold and predicted an emphatic victory for President Goodluck Jonathan in the election.

Fani-Kayode described the APC charge as an attempt to discredit the electoral process and wreak havoc when the opposition party loses as it surely will.

He said in a statement in Abuja that, “it is interesting that the APC never came out with these lies about plans to postpone the election until its cloning and hacking activities were uncovered by the DSS.

“Rather than address the evidences presented by the DSS such as a video of 21 hacking tutorials, multiple registrations of individuals and underage persons including babies and foreigners, possession of temporary and permanent voter cards, the APC is raising postponement as a red herring, hoping to distract Nigerians from its nefarious activities.

“Our Campaign Organisation categorically states that our candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, and the PDP-led Federal Government have no intention, whatsoever, to interfere in the workings of the INEC and therefore dissociates them from the plan, alleged by the APC, to postpone the February 14, 2015 Presidential Election.

“Indeed, we are eagerly looking forward to that day so that the ghost of the violence-prone APC with its criminal cloning and hacking attempts will be laid to rest in a crushing electoral defeat.

“We believe Nigerians are now familiar with the diversionary tactics of the APC. Before the Ekiti and Osun state gubernatorial elections, the same APC made all manner of allegations against the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and all the security agencies.

“When the elections held, Nigerians saw firsthand that none of the allegations made by the APC was true. So shall it be with this new claim of a purported postponement made by the APC.

“This unfounded and mischievous charge of election postponement is part of the APC’s nefarious and well-documented attempt to heat up the polity, lay the groundwork to create disharmony among Nigerians, discredit the forthcoming elections and wreck havoc once it loses the February 14, 2015 Presidential Election.

“We remind Nigerians that it was the Presidential Candidate of the APC, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), who once told the world during a BBC Hausa interview that, ‘If what happened in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood.’

“Even though the elections have not yet held, Buhari’s words of incitement have already borne disastrous fruit as evidenced by the recent violence in Jos, Plateau State, which was clearly spearheaded by his supporters.

“We condemn the violence and mischievous antics of the APC in its entirety and call on Nigerians to reject the party of Janjaweed ideology at the polls.

“We reiterate that the PDP remains committed to implementing its manifestoes, touching the lives of Nigerians, transforming our nation and bequeathing a legacy of development to future generation.”
