Delta moves to sustain peace as Commissioner mobilizes youth leaders

An official of Delta state has reiterated the need for peace and cooperation in the state. Ebifa Ijomah ,the Commissioner, Directorate of Youth Development, has called on community youth leaders in the state to promote peace, co-operation and unity of purpose amongst the youths they lead.He added  that they must also lead by example and add value to their communities by identifying the needs of the youths and channeling them in a peaceful manner to government, through the Directorate of Youth Development Given the tumult of recent past in the state,his appeal for continued peace in the state comes at a right time  State.

The Commissioner stated this in his office while playing host to the traditional and community youth leaders of various clans and executives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria from Ndokwa West during a familiarization visit to the Directorate of Youth Development by the youths recently.

The visiting Youth leaders amongst other things informed the Hon. Commissioner that they were pleased to visit his office and they commended him for his tireless efforts at seeking ways of bringing the Government closer to the Youths in a bid to enhance youth empowerment, job creation, peace and security in Delta State and in the Ndokwa Nation which they represent.

In his response the Commissioner noted with satisfaction that the Government of Dr. Emmanual Eweta Uduaghan has continued to work round the clock to create the enabling environment in which general development can thrive in the state.  He also hinted that with the expected commissioning of the Youth Development Centre at Ashaka, Youths in Ndokwa West will soon have a skills acquisition centre close to them where they can receive training in ICT, and other related skills and vocations as well as benefit from various capacity building programmes of the Directorate.

While emphasizing the need for youths in the State to forge a common front in unity of purpose articulating their needs, he added that the Governor of Delta State is aware of the desire of the youths  align and be part of the government’s development agenda hence he made various  appointments of Youths into different leadership positions in his government.

He therefore urged the youths to reciprocate the governor’s youth friendly disposition shunning all forms of vices especially cultism, robbery and kidnapping all which he noted are anti-development, retrogressive and are acts against the wellbeing of the  people of  the community and their economic development.

In his own remark at the occasion, the Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria in  Ndokwa West, Comrade Chukwudi Ojugbeli, while thanking the Commissioner for encouraging the community youth leaders  to collaborate with the National Youth Council of Nigeria in their locality, assured him that the youths in Ndokwa West  would continue to work towards achieving  the peace  in their area,  but appealed to the state government to do more for the youths in terms of job creation opportunities, urged the government also  to do more in the area of youth development and empowerment.
