
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday ordered the remand of two men : Jamiu Alao, 21, and Mukaila Jamiu, 23, over attempted murder.
The magistrate ,Mrs O.A. Odubajo, who did not take the defendants’ plea, ordered that they should be remanded in Kirikri Correctional Centre.
She, however, directed the police to send the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs) for legal advice.
Odubajo adjourned the case until Feb. 16 for the receipt of the DPP’s advice.
The defendants, Alao, a driver, and Jamiu, a mechanic, are being tried for conspiracy, robbery and attempted murder.
The Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Olasunkanmi Adejumola, told the court that the defendants committed the offences in November 2021 at Ijora, Lagos State.
He said that the defendants robbed one Miss Favour Emmanuel of her bag containing two phones valued N50,000.
Adejumola said that the duo attempted to kill the complainant by pushing her out of their tricycle.
“The complainant boarded the defendants’ tricycle; while on transit, they robbed her of her bag containing two phones and pushed her out of their moving tricycle.
“Some motorists pursued the tricycle with their vehicles and apprehended the defendants,” the prosecutor told the court.
According to the prosecutor, the offences violate Sections 297(1) and 230 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
