The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB),Zone III, on Sunday announced the suspension of its President, Sanga Kone Sanga after its extra ordinary general assembly in Lagos.
The suspension was announced in a statement signed by a Board Member of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF),Kehinde Lamidi, issued on Sunday in Akure.
He said Kone’s suspension was attributed to alleged nefarious activities which the zone believed to be affecting to the development of volleyball in the zone.
Sanga Kone is from Cote d’Ivoire.
The meeting was attended by the presidents from Benin Republic, Nigeria,Togo,Burkina Faso,Ghana and Niger(Proxy).
The statement noted that the Kone had written a letter of protest to the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB),without the support of its members.
“Sanga was alleged to have written a letter of protest to the world governing body, FIVB, an action which created crises in the zone which dissociates itself from the letter.
“The zone, however, affirmed her support for the contributions of the international Volleyball federation under the leadership of Dr Ary Graca.
“CAVB Zone 3 thereby suspends Kone Sanga till the end of his tenure and unanimously mandated the Vice President, Paul Atchoe from Ghana to act as president of the zone,” the statement said. (NAN)
