School pupils performingThe Director of  Ndaminin Yawa Mami Academy in Bwari Abuja,Alhaji  Mohammed N. Umaru has urged parents to always “keep watchful eyes on their children” so as to develop their innate talents.
He made this remark during the recent 5th Graduation and Prize Giving Day ceremony of the academy in Bwari,FCT Abuja.
According to the director “A child of the chronological age of six may have IQ of a child of eight or four years vice-versa. There are always the gifted, the average and the poor in every group. Children vary tremendously in the innate characteristics or tendencies; some have unparallelled curiosity, others are quite unresponsive to events and situation around them. Some are constructive to construct, to acquire knowledge. Others have tendency to destroy, to scatter, fritter things away, and some wish to assert their leadership, others are passive e.t.c
“Therefore parents are hereby advised to keenly keep watchful eyes on their children, to observe and identify their interest towards the development of whatever talents and endowment in education circle” he advised.

SPEECH DELIVERED BY ALHAJI MOHAMMED . N . UMARU DIRECTOR NDAMININ YAWA MAMI ACADEMY ON HER 5TH GRADUATION AND PRIZE GIVING DAY CEREMONY
JULY 27TH 2013.

PROTOCOL
It is a great day today to see parents, loved ones, friends and senior colleagues in our noble institution to mark the 5th Graduation Ceremony of our future leaders.
I want to appreciate God for the favour, love and mercy bestowed upon me to be an initiator of this noble institution (Ndaminin Yawa Mami Academy) in order to complement the efforts of the government for community services (Essential Social Service) and provide opportunity for our children to be given basic education as enshrined in National Policy on Education.
Today’s programme is all about graduation and prize giving day ceremony for pupils who have wonderfully performed in their Nursery and Primary to complete the early and middle level of basic system of education within the year specified.
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, our school will graduate a total of thirty-four (34) pupils in this year, out of which twenty-nine (29) completed their nursery classes while five completed their primary school successfully.
The level of education completed are levels for transmission from one level to another therefore the graduands are still one step up in the furtherance of their education for Economic, Social, Political and moral Development of every individual.
However, the programme of today cannot be realized without the collaborative efforts of the parents, teachers, community and the pupils themselves. Therefore I urge parents to be supportive to their children’s education in order to provide for them moral, social, political, physical and Economic training for the actualization and (realization) of potentials endowed in them at this essential age group.
The child is the significant element in the realization of the aims and objective of education.
Many curricula are child centered and several factors have to be considered when curriculum is to be drawn up. What is meaningful and relevant to a child at the age of three (3) may not be meaningful and relevant to a child of six. So also what is meaningful and relevant to a child at age six, may not be meaningful or relevant to a child of ten. Therefore parents should be patient to allow their children be provided with relevant teaching and learning opportunities for their better tomorrow.
Effective Teaching and learning can be achieved, when it is only related to individual’s differences, in children, especially with regards to their unique intelligence and experience. However, the intelligence Quotient (IQ) does not necessarily coincide with the chronological age.
A child of the chronological age of six may have IQ of a child of eight or four years vice-versa. There are always the gifted the average and the poor in every group. Children vary tremendously in the innate characteristics or tendencies; some have unparallelled curiosity, others are quite unresponsive to events and situation around them. Some are constructive to construct, to acquire knowledge, others have tendency to destroy, to scatter, fritter things away, and some wish to assert their leadership, others are passive e.t.c
Therefore parents are hereby advised to keenly keep watchful eyes on their children, to observe and identify their interest towards the development of whatever talents and endowment in education circle.
Our invited guests, the children on their part today are going to showcase their academic, social, moral and physical talents as pupils of the school for your watch and appreciation. In as much as you watch your children performing one activity or the other, it has to be noted, that the job is done by the able and creative teachers, the institution employed to give the social services as demanded by the policy on education.

However, we are appealing to the general public to patronize our school for result oriented teaching and learning process.
Therefore, my address cannot be concluded without appreciating the parents who patronized our school for the essential services. May the Almighty God continue to provide for them, to enable them train their children accordingly.
The noble and creative teachers are also appreciated for the services they have been rendering to these young children who are the leaders of tomorrow. Despite all the odds they experienced both from the parents and the Director, May God reward them in abundance, Amin.
The executive members of the school’s PTA are also inclusive in the appreciation, as they always represented the parents and school interest whenever issues are identified or articulated. Finally, I wish to call on the parents to be observant of their children’s attitudes and behavior during the long vacation. However, the school is going to organize holiday lessons which will commence on the 5th of August 2013. These could keep the pupils (effectively) in the teaching and learning process (instead of ) wasting their time and efforts in watching video-cassettes. etc.
