Buhari to Sokoto People: I won’t betray your trust

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the people of Sokoto State in  north west Nigeria that he will not betray their trust if voted in again.He also, assured them that  he will not let anyone who betrays the people’s trust  go scot free.

He made this vow Wednesday at the Giginya Memorial Stadium in Sokoto, venue of the  2019 APC Presidential campaign rally.

Prior to his assurance Buhari  vowed that  the fight against corruption was one of the  three cardinal promises he made while seeking the people’s vote in 2015.He reported back to them that  his government has been fighting the battle based on established rules. He pledged that anyone caught betraying the peoples trust will be prosecuted.

The other promises he made ahead of 2015, Buhari recalled  include the pledge to restore security. On that score,  he announced to Sokoto people that even yesterday(Tuesday) the people of Borno affirmed that Boko Haram terrorists  have  been overcome.

Speaking on  his promise to enhance the economic wellbeing of the people, President Buhari  said  God has been helpful with rains  which have in turn  enhanced farming.He noted, in the light of the foregoing,  his Government on its part  supported the farmers with fertilisers at reduced price. He expressed hope that the land will continued to be blessed with bountiful rains.

The president urged therefore called on the  people to vote for APC again just as he  publicly endorsed  the party’s gubernatorial candidate Ahmed Aliyu.

Earlier, President paid  homage to the Sultan of Sokoto in his palace. During the  visit he reiterated his commitment to the war against corrupt and his resolve not to betray the people’s trust,among others.He reiterated the fact that operating according to the rules of democracy has made people call him ‘Baba-Go-Slow.

Responding, the Sultan expressed gratitude over  the president’s visit.He urged politicians to  play politics that will preserve Nigeria. He recalled that Buhari’s statement as a military Head of State that we have no other country except Nigeria remains valid.

The Sultan presented copies of pamphlets to Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina. The pamphlets   which contain, he said,  the roles expected of Muslims in position of authority.The Sultan  requested that   Adesina should ensure that the President’s aides get  a copy each.

He urged politicians to remember  that Allah only gives power. He decides when to withdraw it.

APC topguns who attended the rally in Sokoto included national leader Bola Tinubu, APC national Chairman,Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Aliyu Wamakko,Minister of Transportation and Director General of Buhari Campaign, Chibuike RotimI Amaechi, Minister of Trade and Investment who oversees women affairs ministry, Aisha Abubakar and Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, amog others.Addressing the rally, Tinubu who enumerated Buhari’s strength anchored on his integrity, asked the people to vote APC for President and for the Governor, “you know what I mean” as well as all other positions.
