Governor Kashim Ibrahim of Borno State in Nigeria’s embattle north east has sacked his entire cabinet on Friday.
The dissolution of his cabinet was announced by the Secretary to the State Government,Ambassador Baba Ahmed Jidda.
Our reporter noted that this dissolution of his cabinet was the first since he assumed office in 2011.No immediate reason was given for this drastic move.
It is however an open secret that Shettima who is of the opposition All Progressives Congress,APC has fallen out with his political godfather,Senator Ali Modu -Sheriff, whom many believe was instrumental to his emergence as governor.
Recently, Modu-Sheriff announced that he has decidecide to defect from APC to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Apart from the changing political reality there , Borno is one of the states in the north east ravaged by Boko Haram insurgency .It has also been under a state of emergency.
Whether Shettima’s sack of his entire cabinet was a fallout of the unfolding political reality remains to be seen.
